Two Apply for Open KUA Board Seat

KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 3, 11:30 am – Two residents of Kissimmee have submitted applications to serve on the Board of Directors of the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA). The deadline for completed applications was April 25.

The candidates:
Bill Hart, 1008 Plantation Drive, is currently serving on the KUA Board of Directors. Hart is finishing out the term of Dr. George Gant who resigned his seat on the Board last November after being elected mayor of Kissimmee. Hart is director of surveys at Franklin Surveying & Mapping, Inc. in Kissimmee. He holds a MA degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix. Hart is a former Kissimmee City Commissioner and 26-year resident of Osceola county.

Jim Wells, 1505 E. Leaf Lane, is vice-president of CCL Consultants, Inc., a Maitland-based engineering services company. He holds an engineering degree from the University of Central Florida. Wells has lived in Kissimmee for 44 years and is a member of the Home Builders Association of Mid-Florida and the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce.

The KUA Board will interview the candidates at a special meeting at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, May 9. The Board will then select one candidate whose name will go before the Kissimmee City Commission on May 22 for final confirmation. The candidate confirmed by the City Commission will be sworn in at the Board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2006.

KUA is Florida‘s 7th largest municipally-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in five Central Florida counties. KUA celebrates its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
