KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 8, 9:15 am — Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has been awarded two Golden Image Awards — the Florida public relations industry’s most prestigious honor. Golden Image Awards are awarded by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) for the best strategic public relations programs in the state.
KUA received both a Grand Golden Image Award and a Golden Image Award for its 2003 calendar of electrical safety. The printed calendar met the highest standards of four phases of a public relations program: research, planning, implementation and evaluation. The calendar was also cited for successfully demonstrating creativity, skillfulness and resourcefulness.
“As a Golden Image Award winner, KUA has again been recognized by its peers in the public relations industry to have met the highest standards of performance,” said Chris Gent, KUA’s manager of corporate communications. “We are extremely proud of our annual calendar and the educational value it provides to the children of Osceola County.”
The annual calendar is part of an ongoing effort by KUA to increase public awareness of electrical safety and energy conservation. The calendar features the artwork of third, fourth and fifth grade students in Osceola County. This year’s contest drew a record 949 student entries, representing 26 Osceola County public, private and charter schools.
The awards were presented August 5 during ceremonies at the Wyndham Palace Resort in Lake Buena Vista.
The latest honors bring KUA’s awards total to 142 since 1995. KUA has earned these awards for public relations programs, events and publications at the state, national and international levels of competition.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility serving 61,000 electric, water and Internet customers in five Central Florida counties.
