KUA Captures State’s Top Public Relations Awards

KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 2, 3:45 pm — Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has captured seven awards in the 2001 Golden Image Awards, an annual competition sponsored by the Florida Public Relations Association.

The Golden Image Awards competition is conducted annually to recognize outstanding public relations programs and to encourage and promote the development of excellence in internal and external communications.

KUA was awarded three Golden Image Awards, three Judges’ Awards, and one Award of Distinction at the July 31 banquet held in Jacksonville.

In the institutional communications category, KUA received an Award of Distinction and Judges’ Award for its recent image revitalization of the Roy E. Hansel power plant.

In the still photography category, KUA received a Golden Image Award and a Judges’ Award for its group photograph of employees that marked the utility’s 15th anniversary in October 2000.

In the annual report category, KUA received a Golden Image Award for its 2000 annual financial report titled “connections.”

In the poster/calendar category, KUA received a Golden Image Award and a Judges’ Award for its 2001 Calendar of Electrical Safety that featured the artwork of 12 Osceola elementary students.

Golden Image Awards are the highest level of awards presented by FPRA, Awards of Distinction meet the judges’ standard of excellence, and Judges’ Awards recognize projects that receive maximum results using a minimum budget.

KUA is Florida‘s 7th largest community-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and Internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA celebrates its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
