
KISSIMMEE, Fla., July 8,
1:00 pm — Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has received four international awards in APEX
2003, the fifteenth annual awards program recognizing excellence in publications.
APEX Awards – headquartered in Springfield, Virginia – are based on excellence in graphic
design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall excellence in communication.
KUA received awards of excellence for its corporate Web site, www.kua.com, 2003 calendar of
electrical safety and 2002 Osceola hurricane guide, a joint information project with Orlando
Utilities Commission (OUC). An award of excellence was also presented to KUA’s Internet
subsidiary, KUA.net, for its design of the Web site of the Orlando Area Chapter of the
Florida Public Relations Association, www.fpra-orlando.org .
Winners were chosen from 5,000 entries received from government, private corporations and
nonprofit organizations throughout the United States and Canada. Other notable winners
included Blue Cross Blue Shield, The Boeing Company, Costco Wholesale, Daimler Chrysler,
IBM, NASA, New York Life, Princeton University, and Toyota.
KUA has earned 140 local, state, national and international communication awards for public
relations programs, special events, community relations and publications since 1995.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility serving 61,000
electric, water and Internet customers in five Central Florida counties.
