Gent Tapped As Chair-Elect of National Utility Association

KISSIMMEE, Fla., November 17, 1:30 pm — The corporate communications manager for the Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) has been appointed Chair-Elect of the American Public Power Association (APPA).

Chris Gent will serve as Chair-Elect of APPA’s Customer Connections Committee in 2000-2001 and Chairman in 2001-2002. His role will be to assist utilities throughout the nation on ways to improve relationships with their customers and the way they purchase and use energy and other services.

About 40 million Americans receive electricity from more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities operated by municipalities, counties, and states. These public power systems, owned and operated by the communities they serve, are deeply rooted in the history of the United States. APPA was founded to advance the policy interests of public power, its members and their consumers, and to provide services to help ensure adequate, reliable electricity at a reasonable price.

Gent began his career at KUA in 1993. In addition to his appointment to the APPA Committee, he currently serves as chairman of the Florida Municipal Electric Association’s Customer Connections Committee.

KUA is Florida‘s 7th largest municipally-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and internet customers in five Central Florida counties. KUA will be celebrating its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
