KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 4, 11:30 am – Chris Gent, corporate communications manager for Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), has been installed as president of the Orlando Area Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association, the nation’s oldest public relations association.
Gent succeeds outgoing president Allison Didier, APR, director of communications at Florida Dairy Farmers, Inc., whose term expired on August 31.
FPRA is dedicated to developing public relations practioners who, through ethical and standardized practices, enhance the public relations profession in Florida. Chartered in 1938, FPRA’s 1,100 members make up 14 chapters throughout the state and extend services and professional development to seven student chapters.
Gent began his career at KUA in 1993. In addition to his work with FPRA, he was recently named the recipient of the University of Central Florida’s 2002 Community Service Award. Gent currently serves as chairman of the American Public Power Association’s Customer Connections Section in Washington, DC.
KUA is Florida’s 6th largest community-owned utility serving 58,000 electric, water and internet customers in four Central Florida counties.
