Energy consumption in
“We certainly understand our customers’ concern about energy prices,” said Jim Welsh, KUA’s president & general manager. “KUA is working daily to keep rates low, and we encourage our customers to do their part by working to conserve electricity.”
Here are some ways to help keep heating costs down:
* Set the thermostat between 68-70 degrees. Each degree above 70 adds three to six percent to the bill.
* Check, clean and replace air filters monthly.
* Wrap water heater in an insulation blanket.
* Caulk spaces around windows or other places where cool drafts can get in or heat can escape.
KUA helps low-income families in need of assistance with energy costs through its Good Neighbor Energy Fund. Each year, KUA matches customer contributions of $17,500 for a total of $35,000. The funds are administered through various social service agencies in the community. More information about the energy fund is available by calling KUA at (407) 933-7777.
